Kits Help Babies Get a Great Start in Life
Mothers who bring their babies to Namwianga Mission Hospital for a one-week checkup receive a free Newborn Kit to help them care for their babies. Each kit comes in a cloth tote bag and contains cloth diapers, diaper pins, soap, washcloth, warm outfit, cap, and blanket.
The kits are also given to moms who deliver their babies at the hospital if they live too far away to come back for a check-up.
“We accomplish two things with the Newborn Kits,” explains hospital nurse Tebia Muchindu. “Letting us check the baby helps us to step in with advice and medical care if we see a need. And the Newborn Kits also reduce infection. The mothers get excited when they get the kits and are very thankful.”
You can help babies get a great start in life by donating to provide one or more kits. Each Newborn Kit costs $10.
