Bibles: God's Word for Everyone

In Zambia, Bibles in Tonga and other native languages are expensive and hard to find.

Knowing and understanding God’s word is essential to help believers mature in Christ. And having a Bible improves the likelihood that believers will share their faith with others.

But many Zambians have never owned a personal copy of the scriptures. Some churches gather for worship without a single copy of the Bible to guide them.

Namwianga Mission’s Evangelism and Spiritual Growth team distributes native-language Bibles at leadership training events and seminars. The team also supplies Bibles to new congregations and to churches in mission areas of Zambia.

“People who have the word of God available to them will develop a deeper faith in God,” one team member said.

He shared this story of Cheelo, a Christian who had faith in God’s word. Cheelo’s wife was very sick. There was no hospital and no doctor in their remote area. Cheelo walked to a nearby village and borrowed a Tonga language Bible. He returned to his home and began reading the Bible aloud to his wife as she lay in her bed. Eventually, Cheelo laid it on her chest as a sign of his faith in God’s healing power. Cheelo’s wife recovered from her illness, and their story has strengthened the faith of their fellow community members.

For just $10, you can provide a much-needed Bible in the Tonga language to someone like Cheelo who is eager to know God’s Word.
